Social Media Stats to Know
Social media has become a dynamic platform to not only market your brand, but also gauge customer interest in response to your content. With the growing number of social media users across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, marketing teams need to utilize social media to increase their brand awareness.
In 2019, 90% of brands use social media to increase awareness, and of that 90%, 77% expect their use of social media to increase. By the end of 2019, stories are expected to outpace feeds growing 15 times faster than feed-based sharing. 80% of major brands now use stories on at least one social network.
How do these numbers look on the consumer side of things? Over 85% of U.S. consumers said they used social media, and 58% of those consumers said they follow brands through social media. Broken down my demographic:
71% people aged of 65 using social media
74% people aged 55-64 using social media
85% people aged 45-54 using social media
92% people aged 35-44 using social media
95% people aged 18-34 using social media
Gender also plays a roll, with 87% of when using social media, while only 82% of men said they used social media.
While having social media is important, how a company uses it is just as important. The number one reason listed across each age demographic is consumers wanting regular promotions or discounts. In addition to that, 63% of customers expect companies to offer customer service through their social media channels.
Social media is a way for brands to reach their customer base on a more personal level, delivering content and promotions.
